It is early in the morning. Uwase packs her school bag.

| le cahier | the exercise book |
| le livre | the book |
| la trousse | the pencil case |
| le crayon | the pencil |

| la gomme | the eraser (rubber) |

In Kinyarwanda: le cartable is igikapu, le cahier is ikayi, le livre is igitabo, and le crayon or le stylo is ikaramu.
Maman : Uwase, tu as ton cahier ?
Uwase : Oui, j'ai mon cahier.
