You will read, write, compare and order numbers up to 100 000, then add, subtract, multiply and divide them to solve problems about francs, harvests and journeys.
You will meet numbers below zero, place them on a number line, find their opposites, compare and order them, and find how far apart two integers are, using temperatures, lifts and money.
You will sort numbers into families: even and odd, multiples and factors, prime and composite, and square numbers, then use the LCM and GCF to solve sharing and timing problems.
You will read, write, simplify and compare fractions, then add, subtract, multiply and divide them, using pineapples, bread, milk and fields to see what the numbers mean.
You will see tenths and hundredths as decimals, place them on a number line, read the value of each digit, compare decimals, and add and subtract them to solve problems about cloth, water and long jumps.
You will measure with hand spans, rulers and tape measures, learn the standard units from millimetres to kilometres, convert between them, add and subtract lengths, and find the perimeter of shapes to solve real problems like fencing a garden.
You will find out how much containers hold, use litres and millilitres, change from one unit to another, and solve real problems with jerrycans, bottles and water tanks.
You will weigh things on a balance, use kilograms, grams and the other units from tonne to milligram, and solve real problems from the market and the farm.
You will measure area in square units, find the area of rectangles and squares, change between units of area, and use ares and hectares to solve problems about fields and farms.
You will read analogue and digital clocks to the minute, use a.m. and p.m., change between units of time, read a calendar, and work out how long things take.
You will put big numbers in order, find the rule in number patterns that add or multiply, and work out the missing numbers.
You will find the hidden number in additions and subtractions, work backwards when there are two steps, and solve word problems by writing a number sentence with a box.
You will name kinds of lines, measure line segments, and measure, draw and name angles with a protractor.
You will name triangles by their sides and angles, learn the parts of a quadrilateral, and sort special quadrilaterals by their sides, angles, diagonals and lines of symmetry.
You will find the area of rectangles and squares on a geoboard, then use them to work out the area of triangles, parallelograms, rhombuses and trapeziums.
You will learn the kinds of data, collect data with tally marks, organise it in tables and bar graphs, and read graphs to answer questions.
You will play games with coins, cards and dice, list all the possible outcomes, describe how likely they are and decide whether a game is fair.
