Let's begin
The rain is drumming hard on the roof. Ishimwe cannot go outside to play, so he walks slowly around his home instead.
He counts the rooms. He looks at the things in them. And in one room he finds his lost ball — in a place he did not expect!
Walk with him. Today you will name the rooms of a home and say exactly where things are.
When you talk about being in a room, use the little word in.
I cook in the kitchen. I sleep in the bedroom.
a bed, a table, a chair, a mat, a cup, a plate, a pot, a broom, a door, a window, a lamp.
Ishimwe finds three things on his walk. Read what he says about each one.
on means it is sitting on top of something and touching it.
The cup is standing on top of the table. So Ishimwe says: The cup is on the table.
in means it is inside something.
The beans are cooking inside the pot. So he says: The beans are in the pot.
under means it is below something.
His ball has rolled below the bed. So he shouts: The ball is under the bed!

Do not forget the little word the. We say on the table, never “on table”.
Tip
Take a book and your own hand. Put your hand on the book — it rests on top and touches it. Now push your hand under the book — it hides below. Now slide a pen in your pocket — it goes right inside.
on is on top. in is inside. under is below.

Fix this sentence: The book is on chair.
Answer: The book is on the chair. The little word the was missing.
