It is a hot day. The animals go to the river to drink.
How many animals come? Let’s count them in French!

Count 0 to 10 on your fingers: zéro, un, deux, trois, quatre, cinq, six, sept, huit, neuf, dix.
In Kinyarwanda: rimwe, kabiri, gatatu, kane, gatanu, gatandatu, karindwi, umunani, icyenda, icumi.
onze, douze, treize, quatorze, quinze, seize. They all end in -ze.
dix-sept is dix and sept: 10 and 7.
dix-huit is 10 and 8. dix-neuf is 10 and 9.
Then comes vingt: 20.

After seize, just say dix and add a small number: dix-sept, dix-huit, dix-neuf.
