Lesson 3 of 3
20 min
Let's begin
Byiringiro sneezes into his hands. Achoo!
Then he picks up the class ball.
Now his germs are on the ball! What could Byiringiro do instead?
Grown-up: read this aloud. Show each move first. Then do it together.
You need: an open space for a chasing game.
Two children are the "germs". They chase the others.
A germ touches you gently? Freeze! Rub your hands together, like you are washing.
A "soap" friend runs to you and says "Wash, wash!" Now you are free. Choose new germs often.
The teacher calls out a habit.
Try these: "Sneeze into your elbow!" "Share a toothbrush!" "Wash your hands before lunch!" "Drink water from a puddle!"
Breathe in and stretch up tall. Breathe out and curl down small. Do it three times.
Warning
Safety first! If you feel sick, tell a grown-up. Rest, and do not play hard games that day.
Tip
Sneeze in your elbow, not your hand!
Your hands touch everything. Your elbow does not.
Do each one, then tap Show answer to check.
Show how to catch a sneeze.
Answer: Turn away and sneeze into your elbow.
Why not sneeze into your hands?
Answer: Your hands touch balls, food and friends, so the germs spread.
"Share a cup with a friend." Jump or crouch?
Answer: Crouch. It is a germy habit. Use your own cup.
Name one way to stop germs.
Answer: Wash your hands, drink clean water, keep your nails short, or use your own cup.
