Ball Games Played with Our Feet (e.g. Football)
Lesson 1 of 3
20 min
Let's begin
Keza has a ball made of banana leaves.
She taps it with her foot. Tap, tap, tap!
The ball stays close to her, like a little goat on a rope.

Grown-up: read this aloud. Show each move first. Then do it together.
You need: a ball for each child, or one ball for two friends to share.
In football, players move the ball with their feet. Only the goalkeeper may touch it with the hands.
Moving the ball along with small taps is called dribbling.
Put the ball in front of you. Tap the top of it with the bottom of one foot. Then the other foot.
Left, right, left, right. Can you do 10?
First walk. When it feels easy, jog slowly.
Your ball is your goat. Dribble it slowly around the field.
The teacher calls "Stop the goat!" Put your foot on top of the ball.
The teacher calls "Goat, go home!" Dribble your ball into the big chalk circle.
Pick up your ball. Walk slowly around the field.
Stretch one leg, then the other. Breathe slowly.
Warning
Safety first! Keep your head up and look around as you dribble. Then you will not bump into a friend.
