Keza's mother sews clothes. Her uncle catches fish on Lake Kivu. Her neighbour is a police officer.
In P1 you learned some jobs: enseignant, médecin, infirmier, agriculteur, chauffeur, commerçant.
Today you will learn new jobs, and say where people work.

Qu'est-ce qu'il fait ? (What does he do?) « Il est pêcheur. »
Qu'est-ce qu'elle fait ? (What does she do?) « Elle est couturière. »
Il travaille où ? (Where does he work?) « Il travaille sur le lac. »
There is no un and no une before the job. We say « Elle est vendeuse. »
Listen to the end of the word. It changes for a woman.
Some jobs do not change: « Il est médecin. Elle est médecin. »
This little text comes from a story about a fisherman on the river Nile.
Voici Jaaka.
Il est pêcheur.
Il pêche dans le Nil.
Il a un bateau et un filet.
Il se lève très tôt le matin.
Il vend ses poissons au marché.
Il pêche = he fishes. un bateau = a boat. un filet = a net. Il se lève très tôt = he gets up very early. Il vend ses poissons = he sells his fish.
In Rwanda, many fishermen work on Lake Kivu. At night they catch little fish called isambaza.

Il est, elle est, then the job
Nothing goes in the middle: « Il est pêcheur. » « Elle est couturière. »
