Lesson 4 of 4
20 min
Ishimwe and Uwase look at family photos. They ask about each other's family.
To say your, French uses ton, ta and tes.
Ishimwe : « C'est ta mère, Uwase ? »
Uwase : « Oui, c'est ma mère. Elle est couturière. »
Ishimwe : « Et c'est ton père ? »
Uwase : « Non ! C'est mon oncle. Il est policier. »
Ishimwe : « Ce sont tes frères ? »
Uwase : « Oui, ce sont mes frères, Shema et Gisa. »
| my | your (to a friend) |
|---|---|
| mon père | ton père |
| ma mère | ta mère |
| mes frères | tes frères |
Your friend asks with ton, ta, tes. You answer with mon, ma, mes.
In P1 you learned to smile for i and to round your lips for the French u. Now listen to three words that are almost the same.
One more pair: tu (you) has [y]. tout (all) has [u]. The t at the end of tout is silent.
Draw a person from your family. Your partner asks: « C'est qui ? »
Answer in four steps: « Je te présente ma sœur. Elle s'appelle Teta. Elle a six ans. Elle aime danser. »
Then your partner guesses: « C'est ta cousine ? » « Non, c'est ma sœur ! » Swap and play again.
