Relationship and Friendship
Lesson 5 of 5
12 min
Let's begin
When Umutoni's family moved from Rusizi to Kigali, she knew nobody at her new school. Then a classmate, Mutesi, invited her to play at break, showed her the library and took her to choir practice.
Soon Umutoni felt at home. One kind friend changed her whole year.
"For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him who is alone when he falls, and doesn't have another to lift him up." (Ecclesiastes 4:10)
"Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends." (John 15:13)
"You shall love your neighbour as yourself." (Matthew 22:39)
"...and have made you nations and tribes that ye may know one another." (Qur'an 49:13)
"...make peace between your brethren and observe your duty to Allah that haply ye may obtain mercy." (Qur'an 49:10)
"Haply" means "so that perhaps". People are made different so that they can get to know each other, and making peace between people brings Allah's mercy.
Worked example
Which is better: many friends who pressure you to do wrong, or a few friends who help you grow?
Step 1 Many friends who pressure you can lead you into trouble.
