Let's begin
Byiringiro's school club is starting a rabbit project. "Where will the rabbits live?" asks the teacher. "In a box on the ground," says Mugisha. Keza shakes her head: "The rats and the rain will get them!"
Keza is right. Before you bring rabbits home, you need a good house for them and healthy rabbits to put in it.
A hutch is a small house for rabbits. A good hutch:

Tip
A good hutch is HIGH, DRY, AIRY and CLEAN
A good rabbit has bright eyes, a clean nose, shiny fur and a busy hop.
Try each one first, then tap Show answer to check.
Why should a hutch stand on legs, off the ground?
Answer: To keep it dry and to keep the rabbits safe from rats, snakes, dogs and cats.
Why do hutches have walls or doors of wire mesh?
Answer: To let in fresh air and light.
A rabbit has a runny nose and dull eyes, and it sits still in a corner. Would you choose it?
Answer: No. These are signs that the rabbit is sick.
Why are two bucks kept in separate rooms?
Answer: Adult male rabbits fight each other.
Gatete's doe and buck are brother and sister. Should he breed them?
Answer: No. Related parents often have weak babies. He should get a buck from another farm.
