Lesson 1 of 3
15 min
Let's begin
Uwase draws squares in the sand with a stick.
She hops from square to square on one foot. At the end, she lands on two feet.
Can you hop like Uwase?

Grown-up: read this aloud. Show each move first. Then do it together.
You need: a flat space, and a stick or chalk to draw lines.
Move around in your own space. Listen to the teacher.
Swap feet, so both legs get a turn.
A jump starts on two feet. It lands on two feet.
A hop starts on one foot. It lands on the same foot.
Hop 5 times. Now try it on your other foot.
The teacher claps or beats a drum. You hop around in your space.
The sound stops. Freeze! Stay on one foot and count to 3.
Next, the teacher calls a shape: "Tall!", "Small!" or "Wide!". Freeze in that shape.
Stand on one foot, like a stork bird. Count slowly to 5.
Swap feet. Then shake your legs gently and breathe.
Warning
Safety first! Land softly on the front of your foot, with a bent knee. Look around, so you do not bump a friend.
Tip
Hop: one foot. Jump: two feet
Hold up one finger and say "hop". Hold up two fingers and say "jump".
