Movement and Coordination
Lesson 2 of 3
15 min
Let's begin
Mutesi claps her hands. Clap, clap!
Then she stamps her feet. Stamp, stamp!
Can she step and clap at the same time? Let's try!
Grown-up: read this aloud. Show each move first. Then do it together.
You need: an open space and a song you all know.
Keza is the leader. She tells everyone what to do.
Do it only when she starts with "Keza says".
Did you get caught? Spin around once and keep playing.
Your eyes, hands and feet work together. This is called coordination.
Stand in a big circle. One child makes a beat, like "clap, clap, stamp".
Everyone copies it. Then the next child makes a new beat.
Now sing a song you all know. Step and clap to the song.
Clap softer and softer. Now clap with no sound at all.
Put your hands on your knees. Breathe in and out slowly.
Warning
Safety first! In the circle, keep one big step between you and your friend. Then hands and feet do not bump.
Tip
Step, together, clap!
Say the words out loud as you move: step, together, clap!
Do each one, then tap Show answer to check.
Do step and clap 4 times.
Answer: Step, feet together, clap. Step back, feet together, clap.
"Keza says, hop!" What do you do?
Answer: Hop! She said "Keza says".
"Sit down!" What do you do?
Answer: Nothing. She did not say "Keza says".
Make your own beat for a friend to copy.
Answer: For example: clap, stamp, clap, stamp.
