Lesson 3 of 3
20 min
Let's begin
Niyonzima draws a big circle on the ground with chalk.
He stands behind a line with a soft ball. "Can I throw it into the circle?" he asks.
Let's learn how!
Grown-up: read this aloud. Show each move first. Then do it together.
You need: soft balls (a ball made of banana leaves is great), chalk, and three empty plastic bottles.
Make big circles with your arms, like a windmill. Ten forwards. Ten backwards.
Now pretend to throw a ball. Throw it high, low, near and far.
Draw three circles on the ground: near, middle and far.
Stand behind the line. Throw your ball into a circle. Near is 1 point, middle is 2, far is 3.
When everyone has thrown, collect the balls together.
Stand three empty plastic bottles in a row. Throw or roll the ball underarm to knock them down.
Stand them up again for the next friend.
Make small, slow circles with your arms. Shake your hands gently. Breathe in and out.
Warning
Safety first! Throw only when the teacher says "Throw!". Collect the balls only when everyone has thrown.
Tip
Look, step, swing!
Look at the target. Step with your other foot. Swing and let go.
Do each one, then tap Show answer to check.

Answer: Your left foot, the one on the other side.
