Ball Games Primarily Played with Our Hands (e.g. Volleyball, Basketball, Handball and Netball)
Lesson 1 of 3
20 min
Let's begin
Mutesi throws a ball to Ishimwe.
Bonk! It bounces off his hands and rolls away.
"Make a basket with your hands," says Mutesi. "Try again!"

Grown-up: read this aloud. Show each move first. Then do it together.
You need: one soft ball for two friends.
In some ball games, you use your hands, not your feet.
In all of them, you need to catch!
Pass the ball around your waist, from hand to hand. Then around your knees. Then around your head.
Now go the other way.
Stand with a friend, two big steps apart. Throw the ball gently underarm to each other.
After each catch, both take one step back. Dropped it? Both take one step in.
How far apart can you get?
Sit down. Roll the ball slowly around your legs. Breathe in and out.
Warning
Safety first! Use a soft ball. Throw gently to your friend's hands, never at their face.
Tip
Basket hands, eyes on the ball, hug it in!
