Les objets de la classe
Lesson 3 of 4
20 min
Madame Uwera has a game for the class. She hides the box of chalk somewhere in the classroom.
The children must find it, and they must ask in French!
In P1 you learned sur, sous, dans, devant and derrière. Today you will play with them, and learn one more: à côté de.
Madame Uwera : « J'ai caché la boîte de craies. Où est-elle ? »
Habimana : « Elle est sous le bureau ? »
Madame Uwera : « Non ! »
Mutesi : « Elle est dans l'armoire ? »
Madame Uwera : « Non ! »
Keza : « Elle est derrière la poubelle ? »
Madame Uwera : « Oui ! Bravo, Keza ! »
J'ai caché = I hid. la boîte de craies = the box of chalk. Où est-elle ? = Where is it? We say elle because we say la boîte.
For one thing, ask Où est … ? For many things, ask Où sont … ?
A big person gives orders. Move ONLY when you hear « La maîtresse dit… » first!
mets = put. ta tête = your head. devant toi = in front of you. ton dos = your back.
Tip
à côté de = side by side
Stand next to a friend, side by side, and say: « Je suis à côté de … » and your friend's name!
Say your answer out loud first, then tap Show answer to check.
Say: The bin is next to the door.
Answer: « La poubelle est à côté de la porte. »
« Le livre est ___ le cartable. » (inside)
Answer: dans
What is the opposite of devant?
Answer: derrière
In the game, where was the box of chalk?
Answer: derrière la poubelle
Ask where the exercise books are.
Answer: « Où sont les cahiers ? »
