Les objets de la classe
Lesson 2 of 4
20 min
It is art time in P2. On every table there are new things: scissors, glue, a slate, coloured pencils…
In P1 you learned le cahier, le livre, le crayon, le stylo, la gomme, la règle, la trousse. Today you will name more things, and say whose they are.
The new words are in blue.
| French | English | Kinyarwanda |
|---|---|---|
| l'ardoise | the slate | |
| la feuille | the sheet of paper | urupapuro |
| les crayons de couleur | the coloured pencils | |
| les ciseaux | the scissors | umukasi |
| la colle | the glue | |
| le taille-crayon | the pencil sharpener | |
| la boîte | the box | agasanduku |
In Rwanda, many people call a pen un bic. Les ciseaux are always many: we say les ciseaux, with an s we do not hear.

La maîtresse : « Prenez vos ciseaux et votre colle, s'il vous plaît ! »
Byiringiro : « Oh non ! Mon crayon est cassé. »
Keza : « Tiens, voici mon taille-crayon. »
Byiringiro : « Merci, Keza ! »
Keza : « De rien ! »
La maîtresse : « Mugisha, ce sont tes ciseaux ? »
Mugisha : « Non, madame. Ce sont les ciseaux de Gatete. »
Prenez = take. cassé = broken. Tiens = here you are. De rien = you are welcome.
Remember « le frère de papa » in the unit « Ma famille »? It works the same way: the thing first, then de, then the person.
Tip
Thing first, then de, then the person
la colle de Keza = Keza's glue. Just like le frère de papa!
