Practice Songs in C Scale
Lesson 3 of 4
25 min
Let's begin
Ishimwe washes his hands in two seconds: splash, shake, done! But germs are tiny and they hold on tight. To wash them away, you need soap and time. How can you know when you have washed long enough? Sing!
This song was written for you by Ganzaa. The verse teaches the steps of hand washing.
Clean Hands
Verse
Water, soap, and rub, rub, rub,
Palms and backs, then scrub, scrub, scrub.
In between each finger too,
Nails and thumbs, now rinse them through!Chorus
Wash your hands before you eat,
After toilet, keep them neat!
Twenty seconds, soap and song,
Clean hands keep us well and strong!
Germs we cannot see can make us sick with diarrhoea, colds and other illnesses. Washing with soap and clean water, and rubbing for at least 20 seconds, removes them. Singing the verse once, slowly, takes about that long. The song also tells you when to wash: before eating and after using the toilet.
| Words | Sol-fa (do = C) |
|---|---|
| Water, soap, and rub, rub, rub, | d r m d | m m m |
| Palms and backs, then scrub, scrub, scrub. | r m f r | f f f |
| In between each finger too, | m f s m | l l s |
| Nails and thumbs, now rinse them through! | s l s f | m r d |
| Wash your hands before you eat, | s s l l | s s m |
| After toilet, keep them neat! | f m r d | r m r |
| Twenty seconds, soap and song, | s s l l | s s m |
| Clean hands keep us well and strong! | f f m r | m r d |
Notice the pattern in the verse: line 1 starts on do, line 2 starts one step higher on re, and line 3 starts higher again on mi. The tune climbs like bubbles rising!
