Walk down any street in your umudugudu and you will meet many workers: a moto driver, a tailor, a teacher, a farmer, a nurse.
In French, a job is un métier or une profession. Let's meet the workers in Niyonzima's neighbourhood.
Je m'appelle Niyonzima. Dans mon quartier, tout le monde travaille !
Mon père est chauffeur de moto. Ma mère est agricultrice : elle cultive des haricots et du maïs.
Mon oncle est mécanicien. Il répare les voitures.
Madame Uwera est couturière. Elle coud des robes et des chemises.
Monsieur Habimana est enseignant. Il enseigne à mon école.
Ma tante est infirmière au centre de santé.
Et moi ? Moi, je suis élève !

Look at the ending of the word:
In Rwanda today, girls and boys can learn any job. A woman can be a pilot, and a man can be a nurse!
Tip
Give the word a tail. For a woman, most job words grow a little tail: infirmier → infirmière, vendeur → vendeuse, mécanicien → mécanicienne. Words ending in -e (pilote, journaliste) already have their tail, so they don't change.
