Let's begin
Grown-up: read this out loud. Hold a real cup and put it on, in and under something as you read.
Uwase holds a cup in her hands at home.
She puts the cup on the table. Then she puts it in a box. Then she puts it under the chair.
Her mother says one small word each time. Today you will say those words too.
Put your pencil on the table. It sits on top.
Say it out loud: My pencil is on the table.
The cup is on the chair. The book is on the desk. The cat is on the box.
Now push your pencil inside your bag. You cannot see it.
Say it out loud: My pencil is in my bag.
The ball is in the box. The pen is in the cup.
Careful! On and in are not the same. On is on top. In is inside.
Do it with your hands now. Put a cup on a box. Then put the cup in the box. Say the word each time.
The cat is under the chair. It is down low.
Say it out loud: The cat is under the chair.
Your feet are under the desk. The ball is under the table.
You ask: Where is my book?
You answer: My book is on the table.
The small word tells your friend where to look.
Look around you now. Where is your book? Where is your bag?
Say these two out loud: My book is on the table.
My bag is under the chair.
Some words are one clap: on, in, ball, cup, box.
Some words are two claps: un-der, ta-ble, pen-cil.
Clap them out loud with me.

On is on top. In is inside
Put your hand on your book. Now put your hand in your bag.
