Lesson 1 of 6
12 min
Let's begin
Grown-up: read this page out loud. Let your child say each English word after you.
It is morning. Mugisha is on his mat.
His mother says: "Wake up! It is time for school."
Mugisha stands up and washes his body.
Today you will say what you do every morning.
The night is over. It is morning.
You wake up.
Say it out loud: I wake up.
You wash your body with water.
You brush your teeth.
You put on your school uniform.
You comb your hair.
You have breakfast. Breakfast is what you eat in the morning.
Then you go to school.
Now say them all out loud, in order:
I wake up. I wash my body. I brush my teeth. I put on my uniform. I comb my hair. I have breakfast. I go to school.
You do this every morning. You do it every day.
So you say: Every day I wake up.
Careful! Do not say "Every day I am waking up."
The words every day tell you to say I wake up.
Keza says: Every day I put on my uniform.
Say wash very slowly. The first sound is /w/.
Say body very slowly. The first sound is /b/.
Say teeth. The first sound is /t/.

A song about putting on your things. Listen for the words put on.
