Byiringiro has five 10 Frw coins in his pocket.
They rattle when he runs. They are heavy too.
“Swap them for one coin,” says his sister.
Today you will swap coins the fair way.
A swap is fair when both piles hold the same francs.
It is not about how many coins you hold.
Careful! Do not swap one coin for one coin.
A 10 Frw coin is not a fair swap for a 50 Frw coin.
10 Frw and 50 Frw are not the same money.
You know this bond: 50 and 50 make 100.
50 + 50 = 100
So two 50 Frw coins swap for one 100 Frw coin.
Both sides are 100 Frw. The swap is fair.
Count five 10 Frw coins: 10, 20, 30, 40, 50.
Five 10 Frw coins swap for one 50 Frw coin.
