God's Creation
Lesson 3 of 6
11 min
Let's begin
Umutoni sits outside her home after supper.
The moon is up. Small stars are spread all over the sky.
A bird moves in the mango tree above her head.
Today you will learn the last three days of creation.
On the fourth day came the sun, the moon and the stars.
The sun gives light and heat in the daytime.
The moon and the stars shine over your compound at night.
Careful! Light came on day one. The sun came on day four.
On the fifth day came the creatures of the water and the air.
Fish and every creature that swims came on day five.
The birds came on day five too.
Careful! A bird is not a land animal.
Birds belong with the fish, on day five.
On the sixth day came the animals that walk on the land.
Cows, goats, sheep, dogs and every crawling thing.
Then, last of all, came people.
Say it out loud: people were last of all.
Day one, light and darkness. Day two, the sky.
Day three, the land, the seas and the plants.
Day four, the sun, the moon and the stars.
Day five, the fish and the birds.
Day six, the land animals and people.
Count them on your fingers. The story counts six days of work and stops there.
Tip
Shine, swim, walk
Day four shines. Day five swims and flies. Day six walks.
And people walked in last of all, right at the end of day six.
