Lesson 2 of 5
12 min
Let's begin
Grown-up: read this page out loud. Then look at what your own animals eat today.
Keza takes the goat out of the house in the morning.
The goat puts its mouth in the green grass.
Keza says: "A goat eat grass." Something is not right.
Today you will say what every animal eats.
You put your food in your mouth. You eat.
Animals eat too, but not the same things.
Grass is green. It is on the ground.
Leaves are green too. They are small and flat.
Maize is small and yellow.
Vegetables are green things we eat at home.
Meat is not green. A dog wants meat.
Now say the whole thing out loud:
A cow eats grass.
A goat eats leaves.
A sheep eats grass.
A hen eats maize.
A rabbit eats leaves.
A pig eats vegetables.
A dog eats meat.
Listen to the end of the word: eat ... eats.
One animal eats. The s is always there.
Careful! "A cow eat grass" is not right. Say A cow eats grass.

Ask your friend: What does the goat eat?
Your friend says back: It eats leaves.
What does the hen eat? It eats maize.
