Food I Like
Lesson 3 of 6
12 min
Let's begin
Grown-up: read this page out loud. Then talk about somebody your child knows well.
Keza eats her beans. Her sister Mutesi gives her beans away.
Their friend Ishimwe looks at the two plates.
"Does she like beans?" he says.
Today you will talk about somebody else.
To a friend you say: Do you like beans?
About her sister you say: Does she like beans?
About her brother you say: Does he like rice?
For she and he the little word is does.
Look at these two:
Does she like beans?
She likes beans.
When does stands up, the s at the end of like sits down.
When does goes away, the s comes back up: she likes.
Careful! "Does she likes beans?" is not right. The s is there two times.
Somebody asks: Does she like beans?
Say: Yes, she does.
Or say: No, she does not.
The question has does, so your answer keeps does too.
You do not only like food. You like doing things.
I like football.
I like singing.
I like reading.
I like swimming.
Now ask about somebody: Does he like football? Yes, he does.

Akili learns English. She says it all in Kinyarwanda. This one is long, so watch it on another day with a big person.
Tip
Only one s at a time
Does she like beans? The s sits down.

Put one finger up for the s. Now put it down. It is up one time only.
