Food I Like
Lesson 2 of 6
12 min
Let's begin
Grown-up: read this page out loud. Ask your child about the food in your own house.
Mugisha eats all his rice. His plate is white again.
Then he looks at the cassava. He puts it down.
Today you will say what you like, and what you do not like.
Put the food at the end.
I like rice.
I like beans.
I like bananas.
Say three of your own now. Say the whole thing every time.
Put do not in front of like.
I do not like cassava.
I do not like milk.
Careful! "I no like cassava" is not right. "I not like cassava" is not right too.
The two little words are do not, and they go after I.
When people talk fast, they say don't. It is the fast way to say do not.
You say and write do not. That way is always right.
Now somebody asks you a question.
Do you like beans?
If you like beans, say: Yes, I do.
If you do not like beans, say: No, I do not.
Careful! "Yes, I like" is not right. The answer ends with I do.
Look at the question. It starts with Do. So your answer keeps do too.
Ask a friend: Do you like milk? Listen for the tail of the answer.
The song asks: Do you like ...? Say it back: Yes, I do. or No, I do not.

Tip
Do goes out, do comes back
The question starts with Do you like ...?
So the answer ends with I do or I do not.
Do ... do. Say it two times and your tail will never go missing.
Say each one out loud, then tap Show answer to check.
You eat all your rice. Say it in English.

Somebody asks: Do you like milk? You do not like milk. Answer.
